Professional Development

Someone once said “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.”  Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, people end up in a job they thought would be rewarding only to find it very draining.  In other cases people are in a career field that fits but they can’t seem to move forward or move up.

Everyone has good ideas, however having good ideas is not enough.  Getting people to act on those ideas is what makes the difference between a successful and unsuccessful career.

The skills and abilities that get us promoted are almost useless in our new roles as managers and leaders.  Getting things done is easier said than done.  Having good ideas is not enough. It is those who can  communicate their ideas and get people to act on them who are making a difference in their organization and therefore getting rewarded.

Influencing others requires a combination of high impact communication and negotiation skills.

As a part of the Professional Development Coaching program you will

  • Identify your communication style
  • Learn to read the style of others whom you are attempting to influence.
  • Discover how to clarify the purpose of our communication
  • Analyze your audience
  • Refine the content needed to gain interest and buy-in.
  • Learn a proven method for structuring your communication to make it easy for your audience to understand and agree with what you are saying.
  • Gain advanced listening and questioning techniques.

The bottom line is that we will focus on areas where YOU can improve so you can easily grasp ideas and techniques you can mold into YOUR situation.  As you move through the process you will see new approaches and methods that neatly fit into your interactions with others helping you to get the right things done, the right way, with expediently, and with people feeling good about it!

Bill Smith delivered the course exceptionally well. He certainly helped me to understand the process of negotiation strategies and techniques. I would highly recommend Bill for all future classes…as a matter of fact, I would gladly travel to wherever he may be conducting training.  ~Debra, US Army
